Production wrapped -- onto post-production!

It’s incredible how time flies when you’re producing a film. Just a little over a month ago we were starting our first day of shooting at the beach house. Today, we’re fully wrapped and getting ready to begin post-production, or the editing and sound mixing & design of the film.

Spectacular Sunset

We definitely finished our filming with a “bang” so to speak. Last Saturday was spent mostly inside a Manhattan high rise while Sunday we were out shooting all day on the street, with nearly a dozen extras for one scene - our big paparazzi, angry crowd scene. The crew was totally blown away by our extras’ enthusiasm and willingness to become so vocal and physical with one another. Take after take they brought their A-game, contributing so much to a scene that could’ve otherwise been quite passive. All in all, it was a great weekend wrapping up a great month of shooting.

Behind the scenes of OFF SEASON

Now begins the process of going through the footage and editing it all down into one cohesive piece of movie magic. It's going to take some time, but we'll keep you posted with updates throughout the process to let you know how things are going.

Until then, have some happy holidays!

Filming almost wrapped!

It's been a very hectic 2 weeks for the OFF SEASON crew. Principal photography started at our beach house location on October 16th, and we just finished shooting yesterday, with a few scenes remaining to be filmed in November. It's been a lot of hard work, with early morning shoots and many late nights, but the rewards have made it worth it.

Our location itself has become a huge part of our production -- for both it's
photogenic-ness, and it's ability to relieve stress. It's been a surreal experience to be able to live on set while we're working, with the crashing waves just outside our windows.

There have also been all sorts of wildlife perusing the neighborhood as we shoot. Monarch butterflies passing through on their migration, families of deer that come to feed in our yard each dawn and sunset. We've seen a few fisherman surf casting and catching giant Sea Bass right on the beach in back of our house, though we haven't had the chance to try and wrangle one ourselves yet.

As for the film itself, our talented lead actors Liz Lee and Kimani Shillingford brought their A-game to every scene. Our supporting cast of actors, Abe Koogler, Dan Odell, Mchale Bright, Jun Naito, Chesley Calloway and Kimberley Shoniker, were no less entertaining to watch, and lovely to work with.

OFF SEASON

Overall it's been an amazing experience. We're not completely finished filming yet but we can already see that we've got a really great film on our hands.

That's all for now though until our next shoot. Have a safe and spooky Halloween!

Production Update - Week 1

Our first week of production for OFF SEASON went exceedingly well! We started off nice & slowly on Thursday, with an afternoon of still photography shot by the talented Chris Vongsawat of Chamber Images.

The photos came out great, and will be used in some newspaper props as well as in our news broadcasts within the film.

Friday we met up with Mike Quirk, our talented voice actor who is giving life to the character Charles Rampling who did an excellent job. Then Saturday we headed out to Long Island to do some last minute location scouting and to check out the area surrounding what will be our new home for the next few weeks.

Then we rounded out the long weekend on Sunday filming our Newscasters, both on location and in the studio in front of a green-screen.

This week we had a great rehearsal with our lead actor, Kimani Shillingford and supporting cast member Abe Koogler, then we head out to the location today and principal photography begins on Saturday!

Expect lots more updates through the weeks -- we'll be busy but we'll do our best!

Love,
The Cold Hands Crew

Casting updates, scheduling begins!

It's been another hectic week here at Cold Hands HQ. Scheduling is always a difficult task, but thankfully our cast has been very patient and supportive through the process so far. We've also pretty much confirmed talent for every single role in our film, save for a few additional voice-overs and extras for crowd scenes (email us if you're interested!)

Here are a few more additions to our cast. Stay tuned for more announcements in the next few weeks.

Jun Naito will be playing the role of "Neal", surfer friend of Deshawn.

Ryan Clardy will be playing the role of "Derrick Stone", Sylvie's ex-husband.

Chesley Calloway will be playing the role of "Sam", another friend of Deshawn's.

And don't forget, our KICKSTARTER campaign is in full swing right now! Any donation amount is greatly appreciated, and will go straight towards production costs for OFF SEASON. And remember: every donation is rewarded with a neat gift (as well as our unending thanks and admiration!)

Be Well,
The OS Team

Director Katie Carman on Big Daddy Horror and more cast announcements...

This week, Brandon Sites, Editor in Chief over at Big Daddy Horror Reviews.com chatted with director Katie Carman about her first feature film, "Eat Me!" as well as "Off Season". What resulted was a nice little interview where Katie even got to bitch about the industry a little. Check it out!

In other news, both the Left & Right hands of Cold Hands Productions were struck ill this week but we couldn't sit idle knowing there are more cast announcement to make!
We're pleased to announce two additions to our cast:

Kimberley Shoniker will be playing the role of "Melanie", David Fischer's wife.

Dan Odell will be playing the role of "Bartholomew", a strange but wise old local fisherman.

You might've also seen recently that we launched a Kickstarter campaign for some final production funds for the film. Here's the link to our Kickstarter page: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/756836097/off-season-a-new-feature-film-from-cold-hands-prod-0

They make it extremely easy to make a contribution, and any donation amount helps our production and will be rewarded, even a donation of just $1!

So please take a moment to check out the webpage, watch our cheesy video and make a contribution if you can. And please forward it on to any friends or family who might have a soft spot in their hearts for independent filmmaking!!

More cast announcements...

We've been keeping very busy these days in pre-production for the film. The final script was sent to our actors over the weekend, and casting for additional roles continues with the help of the wonderful Wayne Chang of WC Casting.

We still have a few confirmed actors to announce however, and here are another two!

One is a talented young star we met by chance at an audition recently. Another is a Cold Hands alumnus who gave a very memorable performance in our first feature film "Eat Me!":

Mchale Bright will be playing Sylvie's younger brother, Andy (left), and Abe Koogler will be playing Sylvie's friend and lawyer, David Fischer (right).

We'll be making more cast announcements soon, as well as letting you in on another little project we've been working on for Off Season. Here's a clue: motorcycles may somehow be involved...?

Until then!

Off Season update

Thanks for stopping by and checking out the theatrical website for our film, "Off Season". We know it's a little sparse at the moment but we hope to grow it, and use it as a way to keep our fans updated with everything that's going on with the film.

Behind the scenes, there has been lots going on. Pre-production means finalizing the script, scouting locations, finding the right actors and the right crew. All extremely important work as we gear up to shooting in October!

As you might've seen, we just announced our two lead actors:
Elizabeth Lee as Sylvie, and Kimani Shillingford as DeShawn.

Over the next few weeks we'll be announcing the rest of the cast and sharing some more news with you. Until then, stay well!
